Endometriosis New Zealand (ENZ) represents the tens of thousands of people with endometriosis and we work with those who treat the condition and researchers to find solutions. We have achieved so much in the last 30 years, led by our amazing co-founder and international award-winning CEO, Deborah Bush MNZM QSM. We are people centred, evidenced-based, and deliver quality outcomes. ENZ provides unique and professional services and programs to reach individuals, communities, schools, workplaces, and all stakeholders involved in improving health outcomes for those with endometriosis and persistent pelvic pain.

CHIEF EXECUTIVE
Endometriosis New Zealand (ENZ)

Purpose

Strategic and operational management to ensure the efficient and effective running of ENZ, including people leadership, service / programme / resource development and rollout, development of practices, funding, and policies to support and grow ENZ. To work with all stakeholders to improve health outcomes for those with endometriosis and pelvic pain.

Reporting To

Trustees of the Board through the Chair

Location

Sponsored or modest rented offices, preferably in Christchurch, and other locations where ENZ may have or may be required to carry on business from time to time

Direct Reports

All staff (Note: Deborah Bush the current CE will be engaged on a contract for service, reporting to the Board for an average 20 hours per week, for at least 12 months).

Qualifications

A tertiary qualification is preferred

Proficient written / communication skills to reach all internal / external contacts. The ability to develop, write and produce resource materials, funding applications and sponsorship deals.

Required Experience

General management, planning and change management
Considerable understanding of the NGO sector, including fundraising and all aspects of managing a charitable trust
Effective public speaking
Strong record of achievement
Expert knowledge of endometriosis and associated medical conditions, or experience that indicates this knowledge can be quickly acquired
Have empowered and led internal and external contacts
Exposure to a governance board
Understand research principles with the ability to partake in and encourage research.

Authorities

As per Board direction or as delegated. Employ and end employment after consulting the Board, finances within delegations and budget limits, bank / account signatory.

RESPONSIBILITIES – ACCOUNTABILITIES, KPI’S AND OUTPUTS

Strategic Plan

Develop a strategic plan reflecting the Board’s priorities, that maximises the function of ENZ and delivers positive outcomes for the people ENZ serves. Ensure that the strategic direction is communicated across ENZ’s operations, enabling each staff member, volunteer, and stakeholder to uphold the vision and reach ENZ’s goals. Enhance the overall value of the organisation through maximising ENZ’s influence, reputation, and intellectual property. Ensure the plan is cognisant of the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and reflects the organisation’s Trust Deed Considers global trends and best practices.

Financial Management

Work with the Board Treasurer, accountants and auditor. Ensure the efficient and effective use of ENZ’s financial assets within the limits of authority as set by the Board and with due regard and respect of charitable funds. Ensure financial reports are presented to the Board as they require. With Board approval prepare / oversee funding applications and budgets for special projects and the operation of ENZ. Ensure actual costs match budgets as granted. Ensure all responsibilities regarding accountability reports to philanthropic trusts, donors, funders, and sponsors are met.

Resource Management

Ensure the effective and efficient use of ENZ’s physical and human resources. Ensure the effective division and delegation of responsibilities and regular review of staff performance to the Board. Build an effective high performing team. Ensure service performance reports are presented to the Board as they require.

Medical/Sector Developments

Keep abreast of medical, associated business, health and education sectors, societal, economic, and political developments which may affect ENZ and report to the Board on such. Represent ENZ and other related organisations at conferences and meetings as required and approved by the Board.

Stakeholders and NGO Sector

Ensure ENZ complies with all its obligations under relevant statues and regulations affecting ENZ’s business including the Charities Act. Present and represent ENZ across the sector and in the media in a positive and informed manner.

Ensure the safety and health of employees and others in the workplace
